Red hair disaster?

I made the mistake of dyeing my beautiful brown hair black...the BEST way to remove unwanted color is to STOP piling on the dye and go to your hairstylist. When you get there, tell them you made a mistake with your color choice and tell them you want to remove the color. This is known as "stripping" your hair. Your stylist will apply chemicals that will remove the dye deposited on your hair shafts and "strip" the unwanted color off. Your stylist will then apply new hair dye that is as close to your natural color as possible. Please keep in mind that the more dye you put in your hair, the more difficult it will be to remove it and that both dyeing and stripping damage your hair. Next time you experiment with color, your best bet would be to do a strand test first just to make sure it is what you want. Good luck and I'm sure everything will be fine. Enjoy your prom!

Your problem was the ash, it is a greenish base, bad idea. I would suggest ultimately going to a salon and having them fix it, if that isnt a possibility, go to a salon supplier, like sallys beauty supply, and get a product that will strip your hair of the booboo, and then a dye to fix it, but stay away from the ash base, have fun at prom!

i agree with the above poster: avoid ash based colors at all costs! i am a hair dye "addict" and sally's beauty supply is my holy grail. go and ask them about a hair stripper; it will take all the color out of your hair and will make it sort of a clean slate so that you can start over again. of course, it isn;t awsome for your hair, but if you only do it a couple of times and remember to use a great conditoner afterwords, it will be okay. if you want to go back to red, be careful about what color you choose. your best bet is picking a red that has a brown or auburn base. also remember that any color you add on top of your new stipped hair will be very intense! darker reds will work best!! another great trick is adding a color stabilizer to your stripper. they only cost about 25 cents, you add them to your hair dye and they banish all green or gray tones. ask the salesperson. GOOD LUCK!!!

Definitely a trip to the salon - and pick a good one.

After doing all of that who knows what will happen with another off the shelf dye. A best you might get something that looks okay, at worst your hair may start to fall out; it happened to a friend that incessantly dyed her hair.

Just get some professional advice.

Red hair disaster?

You should definately go to a hairdresser and they can definately fix it for you. And in the future, always consult you're hairdresser before cloring your hair.

Red hair disaster?

wash hair with dish soap often!

sounds crazy but it WORKS!

Red hair disaster?

Throw a bunch of conditioner on it and go to bed .. In the morning, start calling the better salons in your area and ask for a colour correction appointment.. Don't try to do it yourself..

Brutal honesty with the colourist is a must! Good luck
