my friend is black, and i've never dyed a black person's hair before. her hair is REALLY dark. she wants only the underneath red. she got it relaxed so it isnt all nappy.

you would have to bleach it first. But if she just had it relaxed then I would stay clear from the bleach, her hair will break and/or fall out. so basically right now you are kinda out of luck to get the intense red without damanging her hair.

edit: they do sell "clip-in" extensions that you can take in and out daily... so you can color those the intense red then just take them in and out when you sleep and shower. This will however keep the color pretty red.

well it wont let me see her myspace picture but i had my hair red, pink. torquise the best way to do it is to bleach the part you want red, and put the red dye in it the longer you leave the bleach in the more white her hair would get to look redder.

listen..please do not put bleach in her hair if it has been relaxed. it will damage it so bad. plus, red is a very hard color to keep in your hair. it will wash out and fade so easily. you should definitely tell her to get extensions, and then have them cut the way she wants them..she'd save money in the long run from not having to re-color the red every 4-6 weeks. if she wants the truly bright, bright red..go with extensions.
