I had blonde highlights in my hair before i put this red brown color on it, it looks kinda crazy. any help would be much appreciated. i did sleep with a heavy conditioner on last night.

Rule of thumb is to wait at least one week (when going darker). Two weeks (when going lighter). There are temporary fixes you can apply that will reduce the orange while you wait. They are a little messy so you wouldn't want to wear light colored shirts and they tend to leave hair looking dull. Be careful with the darker colors (Ash = green, Gold = orange, can't remember the term for purple) your hair can pick up the off color toner which is probably what had happened when you did the red-brown over the bleached hair.

Hair can only absorb so much conditioner and leaving it on overnight can actually have a drying effect. Trimming split or burnt ends and applying a weekly conditioning pak is a much better solution to healthy hair.

Anytime you apply a chemical to your hair there will be some damage. Changing hair color too often can really do some damage.

A hairdresser could fix it for you if you want it corrected straightaway. It's going to be weeks before you can put on more dye at home.

I have done that before, and you can color it right away, but be careful to go at least a medium brown if you wish to have all of the red covered.

You don't have to wait at all. I went to a salon once to have my hair professionally colored and they didn't get the color right at all. I totally hated it. So I stopped at the drugstore on the way home and bought a box of hair color. I used it as soon as I got home. My hair turned out perfect.

I would suggest buying hair conditioner for color treated hair and make sure you condition every time you wash your hair.

It all depends on how damaged your hair is. Normally I would say give it a couple of weeks, but if you're hair is in pretty good shape, you could technically apply color over it right away. Just be careful with your color choices- you want a cool-toned color to cancel out the red (blues, greens, ashes, violets.)This is the base of the color, not the actual color. you can find a violet based brown just about anywhere (but i could recommend at least getting the color from a beauty supply store).
