I think you will probably have to bleach your hair before you can go back to blonde, your best bet is to go to a salon and have it done.

You need to buy a lightener. it will strip your hair and then you can either leave it or put another blonde colour over it.

I was always told by hairdressers that it wasn't possible to dye my hair blond because I had it dyed black! I did it, I used a pre-lightener, it's only 鎷?.99 in Semichem a blue and yellow box. Anyway, I used the two packets of powder and just stripped it, put on loads of conditioner, and kept it up with a treatment only using one packet of the powder instead of two, and it was in lovely condition and a champagne blond for three years. I've now got it short and dark brown, my natural colour, but I'm tempted to do it blond again?!! Good luck!!

It would be easier going red to blonde than brown to blonde. Are you doing it yourself?? I'd go to sallys or some other beauty supply outlet and mix the dye myself. Pick out a blonde you like, make sure it has a violet base. You want to get rid of the red and chance of brassiness, so I would mix and use your own dye and then use a toner. If you buy the stuff yourself it should all cost less than 20 dollars and I don't think its that hard. It's much better than using a box die, they never come out like you expect.

Getting a violet base is really important, especially if you are an ash blonde and not a strawberry blonde.

I would suggest not putting any more color on the hair and make an appt. with your stylist and if your hair is in good condition, the easiest and less expensive way to go back blond would be to have your hair hilighted and let the other grow off or find someone who specializes in color correction. If you try to do it your self you could end up with orange brassy hair and cost you more in the long run to fix it. You CANNOT but a blonde color over it and be blonde again, all you will get is blonde roots and red ends.

I did this a couple months back sort of. I have naturally blonde hair but had dyed it a dark red brown. But it ended up being more just a dark red. Anyway, when I decided to return to blonde this is what I did:

I used ColorZap, which I bought at Sally Beauty Supply for $10 to take the dark brown red out of my hair, but because I didn't apply it quickly enough and evenly I had to do it the next day as well to completely remove the color.

Then I was stupid and dyed it a super light ash blonde to remove the very slight orange tint from my hair cause I wanted a clean base to dye it a natural blonde, this ended up complicating things as it made my hair pure white.

I won't talk about how many store brand hair dyes I bought and color strand tested only to return because they obviously were going to turn a weird color on my hair.Turns out store box brands are pretty unpredictable as to how they'll react.

SO....I went to Sally's beauty supply bought Neutral Protein Filler for my hair, a bottle of their haircolor from the Ion line in 81/2 natural blonde, a application bottle to put the hair dye in and 20 Volume activator to activate (the white creamy stuff you mix with hairdye) the hairdye which cost me $15 all together. Then I went home and used the protein filler, just squirted it all over my hair and left it for 20 minutes (this makes your hair less porous after the damage of stripping it,if you don't do it your haircolor will end up darker in some spots from uneven absorbtion of color not to mention quite often allow your hair to emphasize the tones such as blue or orange in the hair color your using,in my case it would have been purple since thats the tone in *natural* color hair dyes) then mixed and applied the hair dye and left it for how long the chart from the hair color said and rinsed.

My hair was a very natural looking blonde color, surprisingly barely damaged feeling, and when I added a few light blonde highlights around my face it looked great!

I hope everything turns out as well for you, if I can recommend one thing it would be to give in and buy your hairdye at Sallys for this particular hair project, otherwise you might end up with a purpley, orangey or grey-ish toned hair. Also avoid Feria hair color at all costs. That stuff is never good.

My hairdresser even told me how surprised she was at how great my hair felt and looked when she learnned I did it all myself! Though I had my mother help me apply the color stripper, it's hard to do the back of your head alone....
