You are going to have to do foiling to avoid the most damage. It is best if done by a professional. The bleach will need to be foiled through where the hair is already highlighted, and the red colour will have to be foiled through the rest of the hair. The foils prevent the two colors from bleeding onto one another, and also prevent your hair from being double processed. If you do all over color, the highlighted hair will not take the red hair dye. It will come out more brown than red, and it will be harder to highlight to a nice blonde color once you put a darker shade over it. Foiling is not something that a novice should try at home. Seek professional help.

sounds like a recipe for disaster

That is so hard, I had that, it looked great but when you wash it the red runs and covers the blond, it is a pain in the neck. Try something different that will last.

Oh, boy you're just going to put color on top of color on top of color. It might not come out good, sounds tricky to me.

Yes, since you are already going to have various shades throughout your hair, this shouldn't be a problem. If you wanted it all one solid colour, it would be a different story. Red washes out the fastest of all colours, be warned, though. The pre-highlighted areas will be brighter/darker than the rest of the hair, but since you will be doing highlighting over that, it should be easy enough for it all to blend well. Have fun!

Have it done by a professional, or you will be sorry.

if you are going to add highlights anyway just cover with the red try to add your new highlights in the same area.

if you don't use a color corrector the highlights are going to come through anyway mostly because red is the hardest color to keep from fading make sure you use a color care shampoo %26amp; cond.

you can colour over your highlights but depending on what shade of red you would like to go if its a darker red then you would be ok but a lighter shade of red may turn your growing out highlights pink .go get it done in a salon though its worth getting it done corectly .

if u dye over the highlights, all that'll happen is u'll have diff tones of red in hair. bt make sure u put the blond in first as the red is easier to colour
