Is there a way to dye hair in red, and keep the color for a long time?

I have dyed my hair red before, but it faded away in a week or so.

I'm afraid that red is a very unstable colour. You can try bleaching your hair first, but then your hair gets damaged and the red still fades to pinkish... :(

erm try kerastase colouring shampoo. i forgot whats the full name of it its also kerastase product (something like shampoo, specially for colouring , got red and browwn colour) and its like treatment to your hair and color, apply on your hair , leave it 30 minutes, and the colour (red) will be 'refreshed' and stay longer~ =p

Don't count on over the counter products! Go to a professional hair colorist. He or she will have access to the best products, know how to apply them and the most important thing how to touch up when the time comes. The color can only last as long as it takes your hair to grow and the roots to show. That is a fact of life. You can't stop your hair from growing.

I would recomment getting the colour done at a hairdressers. They will use developers and professional colour that will last longer, and you can ask them what shampoo and conditioner is best to use to keep the colour.
