Dying my hair red...?

I want to dye my hair red. Currently my hair is brown, should I go to a stylist or attempt it on my own? I'm trying to get Debra Messing's (Grace from Will%26amp;Grace) or Kate Walsh's (Addison on Grey's Anatomy) color. If you think I can attempt this at home, what brands do you recommend that wont totally damage my hair? I've used Feria in the past and liked it.

I am a Beverly Hills Stylist.. and I truly reccomend going to a professional for the reds.. they are very hard to do if you don't know what you are doing...

Debra Messings hair... Is a brown based Red...keep that in mind.. to help you!! Paul Mitchell has hair Salons all over the world and they have Exellent Red Colors... I would ask the stylist to use.. the 4R with some 5NB... or in that range to acheive the colors you are looking for.. Make sure you match your eyebrows!!

Go to Paul Mitchell website and look for a salon in the salon locater:

GOOD LUCK!!

i would go to a professional to get it done. it usually looks better that way.

Well if you have done it before on your own..then go for it... But if you want a very nice job then get a professinal!!

i would go to a salon to get it done. it is too risky trying it on your own. your hair could come out bad. The stylists know what they are doing.

hope this helps =]

Call around to salons. You're going to want to go to a salon that uses Wella as their color line. Wella has the best choices of true reds. They also last longer. Do not do it yourself! There is one thing you should fear if you decide to do it yourself which is "hot root". Because the heat of your heat causes the color by your scalp to process faster than the rest you will get bright red roots and and completely different shade of red on the ends of your hair. Red is the trickiest color to do. Good luck!

If feria works for your hair, I suggest doing that again. But, keep in mind, a good hair salon would be the best. They have professionals that will do it right. Also, cheap brands can sometimes leave your hair looking permanently gresy. If you used Feria, I'd say use it again and do exactly the same thing. Or, if they have a salon quality product out there that your salon recommends. Call your hair place and ask what products they reccomend. They will say you should come in, (and you probaly should), but will probaly mention a product they sell or sponser. This will be better for you to use.

If you do try this at home go to Sally's and buy their hair colors, they are better then say Walmart kinds.

But you should go to a hairstylist to get even coverage and so you dont stain everything the red dye touches!

Dying my hair red...?

Please go to a salon/stylist! As an authentic redhead, I've seen a bunch of people who did it on their own without a stylist. It look horrid.

Good luck...

Have fun with your hair!:)

Dying my hair red...?

i did that a couple months ago by myself. I wish I remembered the brand I used to tell you. I had to buy 2 packages since I have thick ringlets, but I also had to leave in in my hair for about 45 minutes.

hope this helps.

p.s. don't use cheap crap and if you decide to go to a salon, ask around and don't just go to a Regis in the mall b/c they are the best of the worst salons.

Dying my hair red...?

I don't think you should atempt this at home, and just let you know fake red hair looks fake,, and i doesn't look natural. so if your going to go for an unatural look do something fun like eletric blue highlights Mandy %26lt;3

Dying my hair red...?

I think u shouln't dye your hair red cause if u dye your hair red u might not look right

Dying my hair red...?

pro, just in case, if uve never done it b4.but if uve done it many times,go for it ureself.

Dying my hair red...?

I would say do it yourself because I went to a salon to get my hair done and well I did not come out with the color I wanted not even close I must of payed close to $100.00 and I could of done a better job at home by myself for alot cheaper...
