I was a natural blonde, and about two years ago decided to be a red head. I've been dying my hair red ever since. However, I recently made a bet with my boyfriend that if the Pittsburgh Penguins made it to the playoffs, I would dye my hair back to blonde. I hear it is really hard to dye over red, and I tried dying it just yesterday. I used a really light blonde color, but the only thing that turned blonde was my roots. The rest of my hair is still red, only a lighter red. How can I get back to blonde?!

Home remedies include this one:
Hot Oil treatments, hairspray, shampooing and exposure to water will gradually fade hair dye.
To remove the last bit of residue or stain on the hair (or to get color out immediately) make up a small batch of bleach mixture and add it to 2 tablespoons or so of shampoo in a cup. Stir it up.
Shampoo your hair with this mixture, "kneading" the hair. Start at the roots and work your way down to the end, and then back up.
You should see the color disappear right before your eyes.

there used to be this stuff called drabber. i haven't seen any latley but if you can find it i believe it will work. you just put the amount that it says into the dye. it's supposed to take the orange, yellow and red tones out of the dye, or something like that. i used to use it and it worked for me.

Go to your hairdresser before you become bald.
Red and yellow make orange. Your hairdresser can give you the proper base and make your hair blond.
Also, you've done a lot of damage to your hair. Have your stylist fix it before you make it worse.

seriously, there is no easy way to do it. You need to go to a professional, first of all. Second, give it time. You may not walk out with perfect blonde hair, but it will be a step closer and in a couple visits, you will have what you want. It is better to do it that way than to bleach the life out of your hair trying to make the transition all in one day. Also, once you bleach your hair, if you try to dye it back to your natural color, you will most likely end up with greenish-brown hair. I've seen this same situation sooo many times....

you can get it blonde with a good bleach, i recommend vario lightener and a 30 vol. developer and you will need to use toner to so the roots will blend with the rest after using the bleach. when you apply the bleach you will want to avoid putting on the root area that has already lightened and then go back at the end of process time and pull it through! good luck
